It’s springtime in southern Maryland. This is the time of year when the focus—home décor-wise—suddenly turns outside the home. We see it each year. Come March our customers start thinking of digging in their gardens. They think, too, of dusting the snow off that old porch and patio furniture and perhaps ditching some of it that’s seen better days in favor of new pieces to perk up their outdoor spaces.
Though most patio furniture, of which we carry all imaginable sorts at Tri County Hearth and Patio, comes in earthy colors like brown, black, and green—brighter colors are on trend for spring 2014. According to a recent piece in The Christian Science Monitor, “Vibrant color has dominated the home furnishings arena since last fall, and after an unusually cold winter, the time’s ripe for bright color to become a focus for our outdoor spaces. Color is a great energizer.”
If you’re ready to invest in some new patio furniture, you will want to think about what will be most durable and versatile, in addition to determining whether or not to go bold with color. You might also think about fencing in your yard during the spring for privacy.
Patio Furniture Trends for Spring 2014
While traditional wood patio sets and rattan furniture never go out of style, we love to see which trends each new season introduces into the outdoor space. Here are some of our favorite outdoor space trends for 2014:
- Bright colors (mint and melon especially are showing up on benches, bistro sets, and accent pillows)
- Acrylic chandeliers that can be hung from pergolas or trees
- Bright and geometric outdoor polypropylene rugs
- Decorative lights and accents illuminated with LEDs
- Kidney-shaped sofas
- Swing chairs and embellished hammocks
You better believe you can find many of these on-trend patio items in our hearth and patio center, along with classic pieces and accessories like umbrellas, rugs, bakers racks, music systems, and firepits.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the decisions, one of our experts will be able to help you decide what arrangement works best for you, your home, your budget, and your desire for your outdoor space.
