At Tri-County Hearth & Patio Center, we are proud to sell Yeti cooler products. We believe Yeti coolers are the finest on the market, with their durable molded construction and their ability to keep food and drinks cold for days on end. When you purchase a Yeti cooler, we want you to get the most out of your new cooler. Here are some of our tips for maximizing the use of your Yeti cooler.

Choose the right ice.Yeti Coolers - Waldorf MD - Tri County Hearth and Patio Center

When you need to keep the contents of your cooler cold for extended periods of time, the ice you choose matters. The experts at Yeti recommend filling your cooler with a mix of smaller ice cubes and blocks of ice, since the smaller ice will chill the cooler faster and the blocks of ice will melt more slowly. The ice shouldn’t be melting when placed in the cooler; it should be cooler than 32 degrees. Yeti also recommends using dry ice in your cooler, if possible.

Pre-chill your cooler.

If you load your ice, food and drinks into a warm cooler, the ice will melt quickly as it works to chill the internal temperature of the cooler. Before you load your cooler, fill the cooler with ice to pre-chill the cooler. Dump that ice out and fill the cooler with fresh ice along with your food and drinks.

Keep your cooler cold.

Once your cooler is cold and filled, the goal is to keep the inside of the cooler and its contents as cold as possible for as long as possible. Try to keep your Yeti cooler out of the sun, and limit how often the cooler is opened, as that will allow warm air in. Don’t drain water from melted ice out of the cooler, as that water will act as cold insulation for the remaining ice and food. Just make sure any opened food is not floating in the water.

Clean your cooler.

Your Yeti cooler should be cleaned with soap and water before it is used and then washed regularly between uses. The cooler can be scrubbed with a 6-to-1 water-to-bleach ratio or sprayed with a power washer to remove difficult odors or stains.

Customize your Tundra.

The Yeti Tundra comes with a host of options that will allow you to customize your Yeti and maximize your use. Yeti offers tie-down kits that allow you to secure your Tundra in a boat, truck or trailer; rubber corner chocks that can help to keep your Tundra secure; cooler cushions that can be affixed to the Tundra’s top so the Tundra serves as both a cooler and a seat; a Seadek that gives your Tundra top a nonstick surface so it can be used as a casting platform; and a cooler lock to keep the contents of your cooler secure.
